The House o' Hill is in one of the most unspoilt areas anywhere in Britain, yet is just over two hours'
drive from the M6 motorway at Carlisle and around 45 minutes' drive from Cairnryan ferry port with regular sailings
to and from Ireland.
Barrhill Station on the picturesque scenic line between Stranraer and Ayr, with train services
to Glasgow and beyond, is just 14 miles away and Girvan, on the Ayrshire coast is 30 minutes drive.
Prestwick International
Airport with flights to London Stansted and Dublin is an hour's drive.
Despite these good connections, when
you come to Bargrennan, you enter a world a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern city dwelling. Here, you
can escape to a world of tranquility, surrounded by the magnificent wilderness of the Galloway Forest Park.
To
reach House o' Hill from England, take the M6 to the Scottish Border and, just across the Border, take the first exit
signposted A75 Dumfries and Stranraer.
Travel along the A75 to Newton Stewart and follow the A714 towards Girvan.
Bargrennan is 10 miles north of Newton Stewart. Once in Bargennan, turn right for Glentrool. The House o' Hill Hotel is only
a hundred yards on the left.
From Cairnryan ferry port to and from Ireland:
Take a right on leaving
the port through the village of Cairnryan and follow the signs for Stranraer and Dumfries. Take the A75 towards Dumfries until
you reach Newton Stewart. Then, take the A714 to Girvan. Bargrennan is 10 miles north of Newton Stewart. Once in Bargennan,
turn right for Glentrool. The House o' Hill Hotel is a hundred yards on the left.
From Ayrshire and Glasgow:
Take the M77/A77 to Ayr and the A77 to Girvan. From Girvan, join the A714 to Newton Stewart through Pinmore, Barrhill
and across the county boundary into Wigtownshire / Dumfries and Galloway.
On entering Bargrennan, take the first
left signposted Glentrool. The House o' Hill Hotel is a hundred yards on the left.
